
1950s-1960s; Timex Corporation - Middlebury, CT Mid-century illuminated watch display case produced by Timex for retail countertop presentation. The case features a black metal body with slanted glass front and raised block-letter TIMEX branding in cream plastic along the top edge. Inside are seven self-balancing trays driven by a smooth-running electric motor, allowing each tier to rotate sequentially for product viewing.
The cabinet is fitted with dual switches on the rear-one controlling the internal motor and another operating the fluorescent light assembly-to create a bright, animated presentation. Timex, originally founded as the Waterbury Clock Company in 1854, became a global leader in affordable, durable timepieces by the mid-20th century, famous for their slogan, Takes a licking and keeps on ticking.
