It feels like a hard plastic or resin or hardened foam. There are 2 pieces broken off the stein.. On the handle and top of lid (see photos). The middle of the stein surface has been worn.

There are other areas that show wear and / or scratches. The 2 longest screws are to attach the stein to top piece. The 6 shorter screws are to connect the 3 large pieces together.
