VINTAGE 1940's GERMAN BLACK GLASS BUTTON SALESMAN STORE DISPLAY COLLECTOR'S CARD

  

Vintage store display or salesman sample button collector card with black & gold glass buttons. The tattered and worn, but intact cardboard display cards reads Made in Germany U. Zone - which dates this to the 1940's.

It contains 37 buttons - arranged into columns according to button pattern and are stacked up in graduating, or smallest to largest, sizes. A unique mix of factory printing and also hand drafted lines and numbering on the card. The buttons are all black glass with gold gilding or accents on them. Ready and waiting for your craft or sewing project, collection, and/or gift giving.

ESTIMATED AGE OR ERA = True vintage buttons - the wording Made in Germany U. Zone on the card dates these to the 1940's. METAL AND/OR MATERIAL = Black glass with gold gilding or highlights. MARKS = Assorted marks one the front of the card - see pics. MEASUREMENTS = Vary - smallest buttons are about 3/8" in diameter to the largest two measuring in at 7/8" and 1 across. Card is aprox 7.5" x 11.5". US RING SIZE = x.

CONDITION = Good vintage condition - given the age. The card and handwriting / hand inking both show their age - there are some water spots / ink runs, discoloration, bends, folds, rips, tears, finish loss, etc. Buttons are in overall in nice shape, with the exception of the second one down in the row with the heading of 6004, which has a stable crack - see pics. Please view & enlarge all photographs to closely inspect fine details and to determine the amount of patina, and/or wear. Most older pieces by nature normally have some degree of both and, unless severe, aren't considered damaged.

I will do my best to note anything glaring or distracting. Utilize the scroll arrows beside the photos to allow yourself the opportunity to view them all. Pictures normally speak louder than words and individuals also interpret characteristics differently.
