RARE Advertising Antique Barsam Brothers Glass Store Counter Display Octagon Jar
This is a fabulous antique advertising Barsam Brothers Inc. Glass general store, counter display octagon jar. The company was located at 125-129 Dwight St. Near where the MassMutal Center is now.
Was right around the corner from the much more famous Kibbe Bros. The Barsam company was first listed in directories in 1922. It was still around in 1930 but gone by 1932.
McLain said that indicates that Barsam, like Kibbe, was a casualty of the Great Depression. Information found on line from Guy A. McLain, director of the Museum of Springfield, Mass. Advertising on front is embossed & says Barsam Brothers, Inc.
It measures approximately 8 3/4 inches height, bottom base 5 inches, top inside opening is 6 1/4 inches diameter & 9 3/4 inches total width of jar. The jar is in fantastic as made antique condition with no chips, lines or cracks. Please see all pictures for more details. A fantastic glass jar with wonderful advertising of gone by days!!
