FUN FACTS, HISTORY, ATTRIBUTES (ie size, year of production, color, scarcity, etc). WHAT FOLLOWS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ANYTHING SPECIFIC in this listing. The original Star Trek didn't even make it into the 1970's. It was cancelled after it's second season and was brought back for a third after an avid fan base campaign. But it still sagged in the ratings and the last episode aired unceremoniously in June of 1969.
But the series went immediately into syndication - and something amazing happened. And by the mid-70's the fan base was eating up all things Star Trek - and the marketing juggernauts were licensing things all over the place. And 50 years later, we've now had motion pictures, alternate universes, enterprises, next generations, deep space stations, voyagers, discoveries, and even Picards. But before all that, they got most of the gang back in 1974 for The Animated Series (supposedly they didn't ask Walter Koenig, Chekov, due to budget constraints). While the show ran only 1 1/2 seasons, it is supposed to have some very well written episodes.
We are a bit perplexed why Dr. Pepper optioned to put out glasses in 1976 - after the series was official over. We suspect that, like the original series, it thrived in syndication long after the episodes were produced. The four glasses in the promotion were.
